Ingredients:
- 250 gms Kabuli Chana
- 2 large onions finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes grated
- 1 tsp cumin seed
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chillies chopped
- 3-4 Tejpatta
- 4-6 cloves
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp garam masala powder
- ¼ tsp red chilli powder (optional)
- 1-2 tbsps tamarind pulp
- 3-4 tbsps oil
- Salt to taste
- Few fresh coriander leaves finely chopped
Directions:
- Soak the chana in 4-5 cups of water the previous night. Next morning cook as follows
- Boil chana in a pressure cooker with 3 -4 cups of water for 10 minutes after the first whistle. While chana is being boiled get the masala ready.
- Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan or kadhai.
- Now add cumin seed , let them splutter.
- Next add green chillies and ginger garlic paste , mix well and add onions. On low flame brown onions till they are light brown.
- Now add grated tomatoes and cook for a couple of minutes till the mixture becomes thick.
- Drain out the water from the boiled chana and keep aside after adding a few crushed boiled chana to it.
- Now add the boiled chana to the onions being cooked and put in all the dry spices .
- Mix well and keep turning around for about 5 minutes.
